About Cheetah Plains Private Game Reserve

Cheetah Plains Private Game Reserve is located in the famous Sabi Sand Game Reserve in South Africa where Africa’s ‘Big 5’ (leopard, lion, African elephant, black rhinoceros and Cape buffalo) and many many more species roam freely.

Our private reserve is roughly 850ha in size but our extensive traversing rights with neighbouring reserves, which include Buffelshoek, Torchwood and Vuyatela, gives access to almost 8 500ha of pristine African bushveld and breathtaking wildlife.

Cheetah Plains was originally part of Djuma Game Reserve, which was owned by the Moolman family. In November 2008, Japie van Niekerk (New Africa Developments) bought the reserve and in 2010 it officially became Cheetah Plains Private Game Reserve.

When you are not out on one of your twice-daily safaris spotting big cats, bush babies, hyenas, rhinos, hippos, African wild dogs and, if you are lucky, eagles, vultures and owls, you will be kicking back at our beautiful and comfortable lodge. Our 8 thatched chalets are set in indigenous gardens and offer wonderful privacy. At night you can literally hear the call of the wild as lions and hyenas set out on the prowl.

Our facilities include a swimming pool, internet access, bar, curio shop, Bush Cottage, outside showers, specialized safaris, expert field guides and much more. We employ over 30 staff members to ensure that your every need is taken care of. All you need to do is arrive & we take care of the rest!
